Canary Wharf

The Canary Wharf of today is an area of high-rise offices and apartment buildings which forms the second financial centre of London.  Canary Wharf was built on the site of the West India Docks, previously one of the busiest dockyards in the world which closed in 1980.  During the 1980s construction began on the first office and residential buildings and the famous One Canada Square (the UK’s tallest building before the Shard) was completed in 1991.  Over the past two decades there has been huge development of the area with dozens of new office and residential buildings being constructed as well as a large underground shopping centre.  Apartments in the area often benefit from great views of the Thames and the Canary Wharf Skyline and many feature on-site concierges and gyms.  Access to the City is excellent, taking approximately 12 minutes on the DLR from Canary Wharf to Bank underground station.
