Aldgate Area Guide
Where the City meets the East End, Aldgate has undergone a dramatic transformation over the last 10 years. Once largely a business district, the area has been redesigned and is now home to numerous modern and luxurious residential developments, many with additional facilities such as communal gyms, swimming pools and roof terraces. New restaurants and bars have sprung up and the area now offers a great mix of venues for its young professional and student residents. The area is also within easy walking distance of Spitalfields Market and Shoreditch, home to an eclectic mix of shops, bars and restaurants.
Getting Around
Fortunately Aldgate could hardly be better connected. The City, Spitalfields, Shoreditch and St Katharine's Dock are within easy walking distance. To travel further afield Aldgate and Aldgate East stations give access to the Hammersmith and City, Circle and District Lines which open up the rest of The City as well as well as South West London, while taking the Overground train from Whitechapel station means you can quickly find yourself in Hoxton or Islington.
