Old Street Area Guide

Old Street roundabout, housing the underground station, has become known as Silicon Roundabout in recent years thanks to the number of new and established technology companies locating themselves here.  Located north of The City and west of Shoreditch, the area has been transformed over the last 10 years with heavy investment in both residential developments and flexible office space.  Professionals in Old Street can now choose from a wide variety of properties from luxury developments with gyms, swimming pools and cinema rooms to original warehouse apartments.  The area is packed with independent restaurants and bars, which spread from Old Street itself along Great Eastern Street towards Old Street Station and some of London’s best clubs are also found here.  Old Street is also a destination for artists with a number of popular galleries located close by as well as a history of street art.  A number of early Banksy murals are still visible and a whole section of Great Eastern Street is now devoted to ever-changing graffiti.   Old Street offers an urban, industrial feel within a short walk of The City and it is not hard to see why so many choose it as their home in London.

Getting Around
Old Street is just a short walk from The City of London meaning many residents have the luxury of being able to walk to work.   For those needing to travel further afield, Old Street Station is on the Northern Line for easy access to Islington and Kings Cross to the north, and to Bank and London Bridge to the south.   Moorgate Station is also within easy walking distance giving access east and west on the Hammersmith & City, Circle and Metropolitan lines.
